MontaVista Software Hires Mark Orvek as Director of Engineering

MontaVista Software Inc., developer of the HardHat Linux operating system for embedded computers, has announced the hiring of Mark Orvek as director of engineering. Orvek comes to MontaVista with 18 years of experience at Hewlett-Packard Co. in engineering management, software design engineering and technical support. The company is focused on streamlining Linux for embedded applications, including development of scaling and configuration tools, cross development toolkits and performance enhancements to the Linux kernel. MontaVista partners with Force Computers Inc., Motorola Computer Group, Ziatech Corp. and WinSystems Inc. Hard Hat runs on those companies' CompactPCI® and single-board computer (SBC) platforms, popular choices for use in telecommunications and Internet appliance applications.
