IntraLinux Announces Free E-mail Product for the Open Source Community

IntraLinux, Inc. announced that it is sponsoring a free e-mail service for the Open Source community.

The announcement was made in conjunction with a planned street fair outside the Moscone Center Windows 2000 event in San Francisco on February 17, 2000. The free e-mail product will be available through one of IntraLinux's web sites and will let users set up email names for themselves along the lines of joe@intralinux.net. The company plans to only advertise for Linux-related products and has a strong privacy policy. According to recent studies, there are about 750,000 Linux based server installations in existence and IntraLinux expects to scale the service up rapidly. CEO Randy Stockton stated that the Linux and Open Source communities have given so much to the world and to their enterprise that they wanted to give something back in the same cooperative spirit.
