Advanstar Communications and Linux Journal Announce Strategic Alliance for Global Linux Conferences

Advanstar Communications, Inc., parent company of LINUX Canada and Advanstar Expositions Canada LTD, and Specialized Systems Consultants, Inc., publishers of Linux Journal, announced a strategic alliance to create a series of global conferences and expositions for the Linux community. The first event in the series, LINUX Canada, will take place May 15-18, 2000 at the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre. The event will feature multiple conference sessions, an exhibit hall with leading-edge Linux-related exhibitions, and three visionary keynote presentations by Robert Young, Linus Torvalds, and Ransom Love. Linux Journal and Advanstar Communications will co-produce the event series, with Linux Journal developing all conference programming and securing the keynote presentations, while Advanstar Communications manages sales, marketing, and administration. The alliance represents a milestone accomplishment for the global Linux community and aims to provide attendees and vendors with a focused education platform dedicated to stimulating corporate IT's integration of this valuable operating tool.
