Lazarus Releases Version 0.5 of its IDE

Lazarus, an open source answer to Borland Delphi, has released version 0.5 of its IDE. The LCL (Lazarus Class Libraries) is designed to be widget independent and can work on any platform where Free Pascal can be found. The IDE currently provides for editing and compiling programs using the GTK+ widget set and is still too immature to use as a true environment, but it will improve soon with the release of new edit control. Simple applications can be created with Lazarus and it can compile simple Delphi applications.
