Open CASCADE Releases First Certified Version and Forms Core Team

The Open CASCADE Department of Matra Datavision has announced the release of version 3.0 of their Open CASCADE modeling components, which is certified from the Open Source version. The new economic model created around Open CASCADE shows concrete success with growing collaboration on a number of projects for the development of specific applications using Open CASCADE.

First orders for yearly support packages have also been received. The core team has been organized under the leadership of Michel Rochon and continues to accept new members, including participants from Canada, France, and Russia. The diversity of the core team members and their readiness to contribute to the project show that Open CASCADE responds to a real need of industrial companies, research laboratories, and software editors. Over 20,000 visits are recorded each month at the Open CASCADE sites, confirming a high level of interest.

Downloading activity is intense, with around 300 Open CASCADE files downloaded daily, demonstrating that the Open Source approach responds to a real demand from developers.
