Corel Corporation has entered into an agreement with Linux Technology Ltd. to bring Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux to a new platform -- Internet Appliances -- and deliver it worldwide. The Solution Box and the Office/Residential Gateway are two major Internet Appliance products developed by Linux Technology Ltd.
The S Box can be operated as a stand-alone system and the Office/Residential Gateway requires network support. Both IA products are multi-platform compatible, boot up within 15 seconds and are stable, affordable and extremely user-friendly. This agreement will see the North American English version of Corel WordPerfect 8 for Linux bundled with every English version of Linux Technology Ltd.'s Internet Appliances. The partnership is an extension of an earlier agreement between Corel and PC Chips to bundle Corel WordPerfect Suite 8 OEM for Windows with every motherboard package shipped worldwide by the PC Chips group of companies. This goes with Corel's overall strategy to, together with its partners, continue to deliver open-standard, cross-compatible, multiple-platform solutions that will increasingly leverage the power of the Web.
