VistaSource's Anyware Office becomes first licensed by FreeDesk.com in ASP targeted growth market

VistaSource, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Applix, Inc., announced that FreeDesk.com has become the first Application Service Provider (ASP) to license VistaSource Anyware Office to provide a free, full-featured application suite accessible from any web browser. The agreement is an interesting case in the exploration of the VistaSource 'Source Access' program, which empowers ASP licensees by offering a variety of licensing and branding options, including access to the source code. FreeDesk.com is the first to take advantage of the third option, which is to purchase the site-wide deployment of the suite without limitation to the number of concurrent users. Under this particular agreement, FreeDesk.com has also purchased a license to use and modify the underlying source code.

VistaSource offers various levels of branding options to its ASP's, from full branding as a VistaSource product, to a completely re-branded, private label product. The agreement is significant for FreeDesk.com as it provides 'free access to the world's first complete web-based office suite anywhere, anytime'. Anyware Office includes VistaSource's award-winning word processor, spreadsheet, email, graphics and presentation tools, all accessed through a uniquely small but powerful Java client. The leading full-featured office suite available for the rapidly growing ASP market. The agreement also provides an opportunity for FreeDesk.com to explore the VistaSource 'Source Access' program, which empowers ASP licensees by offering a variety of licensing and branding options, including access to the source code.
