Top Linux Distributions to Watch: Red Herring Predicts Leaders in Each Region

Red Herring has released a prediction of the top five Linux distributions that will be leaders in their respective regions. Among them is Conectiva, which leads in South America. The growth of Linux has been impressive, with IDC reporting 93% growth for 1999 and Linux now holding 25% of the market. Red Herring analyzed the global distribution companies and identified the top five leaders based on brand recognition, market share, and geographic boundaries. These include Red Hat in North America, SuSE in Europe, Turbolinux in Asia, and Conectiva in South America.
