Free Standards Group Incorporates, Promotes Interoperability Standards for Open Source Development

The Linux Standard Base and Linux Internationalization Initiative have incorporated under the name Free Standards Group, with support from all segments of industry. The group aims to accelerate the use and acceptance of open source technologies through interoperability standards for open source development. The Free Standards Group will promote a specification that will ensure compatibility among LSB-compliant Linux distributions and enable software vendors and developers to port and write software for open source such as Linux.
