MontaVista Software Inc., a company that delivers open-source software solutions for the worldwide embedded software market, has announced that CEO Jim Ready has been elected to the board of the Embedded Linux Consortium (ELC). Ready's embedded systems and Linux credentials stand out among the recently elected ELC board members and the ELC membership at large.
At the first meeting of the ELC board of directors, MontaVista vice-president of engineering, Kevin Morgan, was overwhelmingly elected pro-tem chair of the new board of directors. MontaVista's principal offering is the Linux operating system tailored for embedded software applications. The company's Hard Hat Linux offers developers a mix of open, standard APIs, and powerful open source solutions for embedded design. The ELC is a vendor-neutral trade association dedicated to advancing the depth, breadth and speed of Linux adoption in the enormous embedded computer market.
