VistaSource Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Applix, Inc., announced today at Linux World (booth #1126) the launch of its beta program for the newest version of AnywareOffice for corporate users. AnywareOffice is the first and only full-featured productivity suite accessible through any Java-enabled web browser. The new AnywareOffice beta program is the result of an increasing market trend towards the server-centric or network computing model, and the company's ability to service this market with its award-winning products. VistaSource will tackle this growing market with current and upcoming releases of AnywareOffice.
AnywareOffice includes a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation and graphic tools, email client, database client and development tool-set for custom applications. Additional capabilities enable the user to access these applications - and any stored files - from any Java-enabled browser, and also allows for the deployment of custom applications over the Web. The result is a heightened level of freedom and mobility to work wherever and whenever the user chooses. AnywareOffice was designed as a server-centric suite and is easily scalable from one user to a corporate-wide deployment to thousands of users. With AnywareOffice running on an application server, the applications are centrally managed and maintained, minimizing support costs. The scalability of AnywareOffice dramatically reduces infrastructure costs. On the basis of licensing and upgrade fees alone, volume licensing programs render AnywareOffice a less expensive alternative to other office suites, all of which can have a positive impact on a company's return on investment.
