Corel Corporation and PCTEL, Inc. have announced a partnership to bring the industry's first Linux-compatible software modem to market. This new use of PCTEL's popular host signal processing (HSP) technology will soon give consumers low-cost, Internet-enabled devices incorporated in future versions of Corel LINUX OS. The HSP ModemTM offers hardware manufacturers a faster time to market and higher system reliability at a lower cost. These software-based solutions are much more flexible than traditional hardware modem technology. They enable users to easily upgrade their modems and offer international compatibility through simple downloads.
