Coventive Technologies and Metro Link have formed a strategic partnership to develop the smallest footprint Linux operating system for handhelds, set-tops, and web pads. Coventive's XTinux is an embedded Linux software solution that adds the power and connectivity of Linux to IA products, weighing in at just 143KB. Metro Link's Micro-X is a standards-based, multi-platform X server that has very small server requirements (as little as 600KB). Together, the companies intend to develop and offer the industry's smallest footprint Linux operating system and graphics solution for new IA's. To meet the IA market's strict technical requirements, Metro Link will port Micro-X to the Intel StrongArm 1110 Assabet board, running Coventive's XTinux embedded Linux operating system kernel.
