Phoenix Object Basic: A Hot Concept in the Open Source Community

Phoenix Object Basic, a .NET development environment for Linux, has been gaining popularity since its release. The announcement of the product was one of the top stories on LinuxToday and immediately caused an increase in website traffic. To make Phoenix more accessible, Janus Software has increased bandwidth and mirrored the Windows version on WinSite.

They have also switched the download protocol from HTTP to FTP. In the last week, Conectiva and LibraLinux have joined as distributors, meaning that Phoenix will be included in over 50% of all Linux shipments worldwide. There have been some issues with installing Phoenix on Red Hat Linux, but Janus Software has posted a fix for this problem on their website. They look forward to releasing the next preview snapshot of Phoenix 1.5 for Linux towards the end of October.
