SuSE Linux 7.1 with Kernel 2.4: A Step Towards Enterprise Computing

SuSE Linux has announced the release of SuSE Linux 7.1 with Kernel 2.4.

The new kernel brings improved multi-processor support, an addressable RAM of up to 64 GB, a 64-bit file system, enhanced USB support and simplified administration of hardware components. SuSE Linux Personal is designed for private PC users and includes a range of software packages, while SuSE Linux Professional is aimed at professionals and offers tools for server utilization. The separation into personal and professional versions has allowed SuSE Linux to set new sales records. SuSE Linux is compatible with all major hardware architectures and is available for x86 as well as PowerPC, Alpha, and Sparc CPUs. Beginning February 12th, SuSE Linux 7.1 for Intel CPUs will be available directly from the manufacturer or from bookstores and software retailers.
