MontaVista Software Inc., a leading provider of open-source systems software solutions for embedded developers, has submitted its Hard Hat Linux 2.0 Library Optimizer Tool to the open source community.
The tool parses and inventories program libraries and symbols required by a particular project and prunes unneeded library code and symbols, yielding smaller, more efficient deployment images. MontaVista is inviting open software peers to join forces with them to improve both the number and quality of tools for embedded Linux development. The Library Optimizer Tool is available directly from MontaVista to subscribers of the Hard Hat Linux 2.0 Professional Edition. MontaVista's principal offerings are cross development tools and operating system tailored for embedded developers, including Hard HatTM Linux®, a Linux-based embedded source and binary distribution, development platform and tool kits for x86/IA-32, PowerPC, StrongARM, MIPS, SH, ARM, and other microprocessor architectures. MontaVista offers developers a family of products and services for embedded design targeted for applications ranging from communications infrastructure to thin-client and edge applications.
