Privoxy 1.0: A Privacy Enhancing Proxy with Advanced Filtering Capabilities

Privoxy is a web proxy with advanced filtering capabilities for protecting privacy, filtering web page content, managing cookies, controlling access, and removing ads, banners, pop-ups and other obnoxious Internet junk. It is based on Junkbuster and has many new features and improvements over the old version. Privoxy is known to run on multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, Mac OSX, and Unix. The initial stable release of Privoxy includes a browser-based configuration and control utility, web page content filtering, modularized configuration, HTTP/1.1 compliance, support for Perl Compatible Regular Expressions, improved cookie management features, GIF de-animation, bypassing click-tracking scripts, multi-threading, user-customizable HTML templates, auto-detection and re-reading of config file changes, improved signal handling, and a true daemon mode.
