Linux Adoption Survey Reveals High Usage and Growing Acceptance

Nearly 60% of companies already use Linux, citing stability, cost savings, performance and security as top reasons to deploy. OSDL and SD Times have released a joint survey on the use of Linux in corporations, showing broad and deep use of Linux in IT shops even though only a third of the companies had adopted it as a corporate standard computing platform. The survey found that stability and security were among the top five reasons for bringing Linux into their corporate networks. Linux continues to move from grass-roots upward, but there are still obstacles for its adoption. OSDL is dedicated to accelerating the growth and adoption of Linux in the enterprise, while SD Times is the independent newspaper of record for the software development industry.
