Unilever Joins Open Source Development Lab as First Global 2000 Corporation Member

The Open Source Development Lab (OSDL) announced that Unilever, a global consumer goods giant, has joined the organization as its first member from the ranks of Global 2000 corporations. Unilever plans to migrate its information technology systems from Unix to Linux on Intel-standard hardware in all 80 countries where it operates. OSDL's CEO, Stuart Cohen, stated that Unilever is a significant addition to their membership and the first of many Global 2000 corporations that they expect will be joining them to contribute in improving Linux. The organization has expanded its charter to increase its participation in the Linux development community and with IT vendors, and with Unilever to begin investing in more programs for corporations to help ensure that Linux meets their requirements and solves their real-world business problems.
