Free Software Representative to Attend UN Preparatory Conference for World Summit on Information Society

Georg Greve, president of FSF Europe and nominee from the coordinating circle of the German Civil Society for the WSIS, will participate in the preparative conference towards the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Paris as a member of the German governmental delegation. Georg Greve's focus during the summit will be on sustainability of the information society, including questions like equality of knowledge and access, informational independence, gender-equality, and greater possibilities of access by means of new media. The Network of New Media (Netzwerk Neue Medien e.V.) welcomes Georg Greve as a member of the German governmental delegation and believes that Free Software is fundamental in helping close the global digital divide.
