The OpenPKG project has released version 2.0 of its software, which is a cross-platform software packaging facility for deploying and maintaining open source software on different operating systems. The new release includes support for 16 Unix flavors, including FreeBSD, Debian Linux, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Sun Solaris. It also features improved RPM capabilities, such as the ability to use GNU shtool's platform identification and specification headers and sections for more complete packaging. The project has been praised by IT decision makers and Unix system administrators for its ease of use and flexibility in managing open source software on different platforms.
