F5 Networks has chosen McObject's eXtremeDB in-memory embedded database for Linux to provide reliable, real-time data management within its BIG-IP product family of Internet traffic optimization devices. eXtremeDB is part of the core technology in F5 Networks' just-released BIG-IP version 9.0 local area application traffic management solution, and is built into additional services to be released in the coming year. Incorporating eXtremeDB, rather than continuing to build data management from scratch, cut developer-weeks from the BIG-IP 9.0 product development and QA testing cycles, F5 Networks Senior Architect David Schmitt said. F5 Networks' selection of eXtremeDB highlights the customer value McObject delivers in its key target market of intelligent, network-edge devices. By combining ground-breaking performance with a tiny footprint, eXtremeDB enables devices to manage a growing volume of complex data while delivering the responsiveness, high availability and low development and manufacturing costs required for devices' marketplace success.
