OpenPKG Releases Version 2.3 of Its Cross-Platform Software Packaging Facility

The OpenPKG project has released version 2.3 of its software, which is a cross-platform software packaging facility for Unix operating systems. The software leverages proven technologies like Red Hat Package Manager and OSSP and GNU components to establish a unified software administration environment, independent of the underlying Unix operating system. This release includes new versions of popular Open Source Unix software and support for Sun Solaris 10 on both Intel and SPARC architectures. The software is available for 21 different Unix platforms, including FreeBSD, Debian, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Fedora Core, SuSE Linux, and Sun Solaris. The OpenPKG project was founded in 2000 by Ralf S. Engelschall and is maintained and improved by its original developers and volunteer contributors.
