MEPIS 3.3.2.test02 Now Available for Public Testing

SimplyMEPIS 3.3.2.test02 is now available for public testing via the MEPIS Subscriber's Site and at public mirrors. The new version includes a 2.6.12 kernel and SMP kernels for pentium4 and K6 are planned for shortly after it goes final.

Software RAID support is builtin but the configuration file must be edited manually. Desktop OnTheGo, a completely redesigned successor to the MEPIS Traveller Disc, is also included in this version. It allows users to take their desktop everywhere a compatible version of Linux is available and supports AES encryption of the OnTheGo desktop. The SimplyMEPIS version of Desktop OnTheGo will be available soon in products from Technalign, SimpleICT, and Forensic Computers. Warren Woodford, founder of MEPIS LLC, stated that the big news in 3.3.2 is Desktop OnTheGo, which allows users to take their desktop everywhere there is a machine with a compatible version of Linux.
