Mandriva Wins Seat in NEPOMUK Social Semantic Desktop Project

Mandriva's EDGE-IT subsidiary has won a seat in the NEPOMUK Social Semantic Desktop project, which aims to develop a comprehensive solution for extending the personal desktop into a collaboration environment that supports both personal information management and sharing of information via social and organizational channels. The project is funded under the European Union's Sixth Framework Programme and has a total budget of 17 million euros, with Mandriva receiving 1.8 million euros. The company will participate in the definition of infrastructure tools necessary for NEPOMUK, organize and lead community engineering around the project, and implement NEPOMUK technologies into the Mandriva Club website.
