MySQL AB has launched a new website and community directory called MySQL Forge to encourage and support active MySQL-related open source development. The site is designed as a central online resource for all MySQL users and developers to communicate, collaborate and share MySQL code and applications. In addition, MySQL has announced new support for Ubuntu, a version of the Linux operating system that is gaining popularity among open source developers. The partnership and technology collaboration between MySQL and Ubuntu will make it much easier for their joint communities and customers to build and use everything from Web 2.0 applications to large, business-critical software on the Ubuntu-MySQL platform. The DotOrg Pavilion at the MySQL Users Conference 2006 showcased a wide range of MySQL-related open source projects, and several members of the MySQL open source community were recognized with awards for their outstanding contributions.
