New Release of Native Free Software Distribution for Digital Content Creation on AMD64 Multi-Core

The 64 Studio project has released its first stable version of a distribution of native free software for digital content creation on x86_64 hardware. The distribution is based on Debian GNU/Linux and includes a specialized package selection and customizations. It also offers a 32-bit edition for legacy PC hardware.

The CD image installs Debian with X.org, Gnome desktop, Linux kernel with realtime preemption patches, and creative applications. The software is free and comes with no warranty but has been tested on various hardware and is already in daily use by many testers. Developers and users are welcome to get involved with the project and there is a mailing list for feedback and suggestions. The company behind the project also produces custom distributions for commercial partners with Linux-based audio products.
