Open Source Summit Europe 2023: A Gathering of Innovators and Leaders in Bilbao, Spain

In the heart of Europe, where open source innovation thrives, the Linux Foundation has announced the schedule for its premier European conference, Open Source Summit Europe 2023. The much-anticipated event will take place from September 19 to 21 in Bilbao, Spain, with pre-event programming and co-located events on September 17-18 (see full schedule here).

For the past 15 years, Open Source Summit has been a beacon for developers, technologists, and community leaders across North America, Europe, and Asia. The European edition, launched in 2011, brings together the global open source community to collaborate, innovate, and ensure a sustainable ecosystem. This year's conference is no exception, featuring 175 sessions spread across 12 microconferences: CloudOpen, ContainerCon, Diversity Empowerment Summit, Emerging OS Forum, LinuxCon, Open AI + Data Forum, OpenJS World, Open Source Leadership Summit, Open Source On-Ramp, OSPOCon, SupplyChainSecurityCon, and SustainabilityCon.

Some of the highlights from this year's schedule include:

  • Scaling AI Workloads with Kubernetes: Sharing GPU Resources Across Multiple Containers by Jack Min Ong, Jina AI (CloudOpen)
  • Improving Container Image Registry Availability with Kube Image Keeper by Jérôme Petazzoni, Tiny Shell Script LLC (ContainerCon)
  • Breaking Out of the Open Source Burnout Cycle by Nigel Brown, Intuit (Open Source Leadership Summit)
  • Getting Started with BPF Security Observability by Vandana Salve, Consulting Software Architect (Open Source On-Ramp)
  • Do I Belong? Investigating Belonging in Open Source through the Sense of Virtual Community by Bianca Trinkenreich, Globant (Diversity Empowerment Summit)

Keynote speakers for the event will be announced in the coming weeks. Additionally, 10 mini-summits and co-located events will take place alongside Open Source Summit Europe 2023, offering more opportunities to learn about PyTorch, Linux Security, OpenWallet, Open Metaverse, OpenSSF, Networking, OpenChain, SPDX, and much more.

Registration for the in-person event is currently available at a discounted price of US$799 through July 6. Reduced registration rates are also available for small businesses, hobbyists, and students. A 'hall pass' and virtual-only option are available as well (see all registration types here). Members of The Linux Foundation receive a 20 percent discount off registration; contact [email protected] to request a member discount code.
